With New 2014 MX-5, Mazda Gets Back to Basics

If you can remember the 1989 Mazda MX-5, or even if you've heard about its iconic style, then you know why Spradley Barr Motors, located in Cheyenne, WY was ecstatic to hear about its return  for the 2014 year! This sporty, fun car is remembered as one of the best Mazda to ever grace the roads. Although the 1989 model greatly differs from today's Mazda MX-5, it was just as (if not more) impressive, and the 2014 model inspired by it promises to be so as well.

That's right, readers, Mazda plans to make good on its "Zoom, Zoom" slogan with the 2014 MX-5. As Hirotaka Kanazawa, Mazda Research and Development Chief explains, "We will return to the original. It will be lightweight and the cost will be lightweight too. It will be easy to handle and fun to drive."1 In addition to inspired styling from the 1989 model, the new MX-5  will also be influenced by the Mazda Takeri Concept. The 2014 model will most likely use a 1.3-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder with SkyActiv technology for power, making it the first MX-5 to use forced induction technology. It should be cost efficient, too.
